The most common question at an implant consultation is the price. The honest answer is “it depends”, but it depends on a short list of things you can understand before your first visit.
A single tooth implant
A single implant replaces one missing tooth. In Austin, a complete single implant usually costs $3,000 to $5,000. At our clinic the turnkey price starts at $2,990 and includes:
- 3D CT scan and consultation
- the titanium implant
- a custom abutment (the connector)
- a zirconia crown
- follow-up visits and X-rays
When comparing quotes, check that each of these items is included. A low “implant price” often covers only the screw.
Full-arch implants: All-on-4
If most teeth in a jaw are missing or failing, placing an implant for every tooth is rarely the best option. All-on-4 supports a full fixed bridge on four implants. Typical prices are $15,000 to $28,000 per arch; ours start at $15,900 and include extractions, sedation, a same-day temporary bridge and the final zirconia bridge.
What makes the price higher
Bone grafting or a sinus lift
If bone has shrunk after a tooth was lost, it may need to be rebuilt first. A bone graft adds roughly $450 to $1,200 per site, a sinus lift from $1,500.
The type of crown or bridge
Zirconia costs more than acrylic, but it is stronger, stains less and lasts longer. For full-arch work we recommend zirconia for the final bridge.
Insurance and financing
Dental insurance rarely covers the full cost, but many PPO plans pay part of the crown or surgery. We verify your benefits for free and file the claim. For the rest, 0% APR financing lets you spread the cost over up to 24 months.
The best way to know your price is a 3D scan. It shows how much bone you have, so the plan and the price are fixed before treatment starts.
Is it worth it?
An implant can last a lifetime and protects the bone and the neighboring teeth. A bridge or denture is cheaper at first, but usually needs replacing after 10 to 15 years. Over 20 years, an implant often costs less.
